The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants Students’ Society (CIMASS) is the elected representative body of over 11,000 registered CIMA students and passed finalists in Sri Lanka and is highly focused on adding value to them through various Educational and Social activities such as debates, quizzes, seminars, factory visits etc. These activities are aimed at developing the skills and competencies of the students in order to make them complete, competent management accountants.

CIMA mind challenge 2005 organised by CIMASS was held in grand scale at Colombo Plaza on 18th September 2005. CIMA global president Mr. Ian Christison was also present, thus making it the first CIMASS event attended by such personality. The quiz covered questions from several areas including current affairs, general knowledge, CIMA curriculum, entertainment, sports, business affairs etc.

First round took the form of a table quiz where, about 100 participants from a numerous organisations took part. Through the table quiz 4 teams were selected for the semi finals and Wisdom achieved first place with a convincing lead.

In the semi finals Wisdom’s opponent was AMBA Research, a leading consulting firm whose team consisted of very professional individuals. Wisdom surpassed the AMBA challenge in the final question of the final round to book a birth in the final to meet the opponent, Academy of Business Studies (ABS). The final was one way traffic where the lead was almost 100 points when the two final contestants came up on stage. A gallant effort of the last ABS candidate was a bit too late in the day for it to have any impact. Final score Wisdom: ABS – 100:60.

Thus Wisdom ended up claiming the trophy for the third time in four years of its history.
